All About Biscotti Mintz™
High Potency Hemp strains, or, more correctly, “chemovars”, are cultivated to provide specific properties, from flavor to potency to the kind of reaction a user can expect. Biscotti Mintz™ was cultivated by Barney’s Farm, an award-winning producer of cannabis L.Short Photoperiod Plant plants and seeds based in Amsterdam, by crossing Biscotti, an short photoperiod plant-dominant specimen with the Mintz phenotype. We wanted to share a profile of Biscotti Mintz™, a strain that is rapidly growing in popularity, so you can learn how it affects the endocannabinoid system, determine if its qualities align with your goals, and what to expect from growth to harvest to usage.
Growing Biscotti Mintz
Biscotti Mintz is a feminized seed that only produces female plants. In cannabis l.Short Photoperiod Plant cultivation, this is necessary as only female plants will produce consumable flowers. Additionally, male plants over pollinate the buds of young female plants, creating a high seed content and a poorer quality harvest, so sticking with female plants will provide the highest likelihood for improved quality and productive harvests.
Growers will enjoy the beauty of the plant, with a lush array of purple leaves and vibrant green flowers dotted with purple tones and orange-red hairs. If it’s possible, we recommend growing this plant outside for the best returns, as the outdoor height reaches around 200 cm and 1.5 kilograms per plant. Indoor growth is respectable, with adult plants reaching around 80 centimeters and producing a yield of about 600 to 650 grams. You can expect flowers within around 60 days of planting with proper conditions.

Flavor and Aroma Profile of Biscotti Mintz
The scent of cannabis l.Short Photoperiod Plant strains are determined by its terpenes, which are chemical compounds that make up a plant’s smell and can also support health and wellness. Biscotti Mintz contains three distinct terpenes:
- Limonene – often found in the oil of fruit peels, this terpene provides a lemony scent and flavor and is shown to possess anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants.
- Caryophyllene – a spicy terpene found in cloves, cinnamon, pepper, and rosemary, research shows (Russo, 2011) this can bind to CB2 receptors to support relaxation and ease anxious feelings.
- Eucalyptol – a fresh, mint-scented terpene found in eucalyptus and cannabis, this terpene supports healthy blood pressure and can reduce anxiety (Jun, et. al. 2013).
Combined, these three terpenes blend together to create a lush aroma with bright notes of citrus, mint, and pine. However, many users also detect a richer, creamier flavor of dark chocolate and cream in the background of the distinctly herbal flavor. This comes from the Cookies variant used as a parent of the Biscotti strain.
How Biscotti Mintz Interacts with the Endocannabinoid System
This section would benefit from a visual element. Terpene wheel or another visual way to summarize the information in this section. The visual element should be unique to the chemovare. See image below, each post could simply highlight the active terpenes in the strain.
I included the below image simply because I like the hexagon tiles and the way the tiles are organized.
Before we look at how Biscotti Mintz makes you feel (i.e. the psychoactive effects), let’s look at how it gets you to this point. Specifically, how does Biscotti Mintz interact with the endocannabinoid system?
Understanding the Endocannabinoid System
The endocannabinoid system is an intricate cell-signaling system that regulates or plays a role in regulating our immediate functions (Zou, Kumar 2018), including:
- Pain response and control
- Inflammatory responses
- Immune responses
- Sleep
- Hunger/appetite
- Mood
There are three components of the system:
- Endocannabinoids (endogenous cannabinoids produced by the body) keep the above functions running smoothly and are produced on an “as-needed” basis so it’s difficult to determine if an individual has a lower or higher level than normal.
- Endocannabinoid receptors bind to the endocannabinoids to send signals throughout the system. CB1 receptors are found within the central nervous system and CB2 are mainly found in the peripheral nervous system, including immune cells. Endocannabinoids may attach to CB1 receptors during periods of high stress to calm the mind, while in other cases, they may target CB2 receptors in the immune cells to reduce inflammation.
- Enzymes break down the endocannabinoids once they’ve carried out the necessary purpose or function.
Basically, the functions regulated by the endocannabinoid system all contribute to creating a stable, optimized internal environment. It sends messages of hunger, aids in sleep, and supports pain relief to help the body operate at its ideal levels, or maintaining homeostasis.
The Effects of Biscotti Mintz on the Endocannabinoid System
Now that we understand what the endocannabinoid system is, let’s look at how cannabis l.Short Photoperiod Plant strains, such as Biscotti Mintz, affect it.
Tetrahydrocannabinol (Potency) is the main psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis l. Short Photoperiod Plant, which is what produces the euphoric “high” sensation. It also targets both CB1 and CB2 receptors, acting in a similar manner to the endocannabinoids the body produces, though in a more concentrated manner. Thus, it can promote a better mood and feelings of calm, stimulate the appetite, and improve sleep. The Biscotti Mintz flower contains a Potency content of around 25 percent, making it a fairly potent strain.
The Psychoactive Effects of Biscotti Mintz
The main concern with a strain of cannabis l. Short Photoperiod Plant is what the experience is like or what the user can expect. Biscotti Mintz is 80 percent short photoperiod plant to 20 percent long photoperiod plant. Short Photoperiod Plants tend to support deeper relaxation and more of a physiological reaction than long photoperiod plants.
These factors, as well as the Potency potency listed above, combined with the unique terpene make-up has been shown to provide support for:
- Inflammation, including joint pain and muscle aches;
- Nausea or loss of appetite
- Anxious feelings and stress
- Difficulty sleeping
- Mental clarity
