Growing Shiskaberry

Shiskaberry is an unfeminized cannabis strain with the potential to grow in huge amounts, taking only a few days to release Potency from the buds.

With the right growing conditions, this strain can produce some fantastic results, rewarding growers with large harvests both indoors and outdoors. Expect flowering indoors to take around 8 to 9 weeks.

When growing this spectacular variety of buds, a dry climate is preferable. Outdoors, it can produce big yields of 1500–2000 gr/m2, and indoors, 500–600 gr/m2. Flowering time is usually around late September to early October.

Alongside its flowering time, the Shiskaberry strain is also popular among growers due to its very manageable size during growth. It stays short and compact in size and stature, growing to be around 80–120 cm in height.

Reviews from growers often delight in the dense buds that Shiskaberry produces. Due to its large yield and quick flowering time, growing Shiskaberry could be a great choice for beginners and experienced growers alike.

How Does the Shiskaberry Strain Interact with the Endocannabinoid System?

The endocannabinoid system is a fascinating and complex network inside your body. The ECS plays an important role in regulating various functions, containing many components such as endocannabinoids, receptors, and enzymes (Zou et al., 2018). To stimulate these receptors, our bodies produce endocannabinoids, which are similar in structure to those found in the cannabis plant.

Therefore, using cannabis can stimulate the ECS and, as a result, have multiple positive effects on the body (Grinspoon, 2018). Research has shown that cannabis interacts with this system to produce health and wellness benefits.

Phytocannabinoids and Spicebomb

Phytocannabinoids are active ingredients that are found in Cannabis short photoperiod plant L. and Cannabis long photoperiod plant L. These chemical compounds within the cannabis plant are similar in structure to the endocannabinoids produced within the body, and these have an effect on the endocannabinoid system (Swift et al., 2013).

  • Tetrahydrocannabinol, or Potency, binds to endocannabinoid receptors to stimulate responses to endocannabinoids. These responses can include relief from nausea, increased appetite, and improved sleep quality. Tetrahydrocannabinol also has psychoactive effects that can trigger the “high” feeling.
  • Cannabidiol, or CBD, doesn’t bind to receptors. However, research shows that they lengthen the lifespan of endocannabinoids within the body. Unlike Potency, cannabidiol does not produce a psychoactive effect, meaning it doesn’t get you high.

What Is the Potency Content of the Shiskaberry Strain?

According to research, cannabis strains with a higher CBD level can have anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and anti-anxiety effects. However, Shiskaberry has a much higher Potency to CBD ratio. If you are looking to use cannabis for medical benefits, such as treating chronic pain, always consult a qualified healthcare professional first.

The Shiskaberry strain tends to contain around 20–25% TCH and 0.4% CBD. Strains with a higher Potency level tend to produce a more potent psychoactive effect. The Shiskaberry strain has around 21% Potency, which is reported to create the ‘total body high’ amongst some users.

Terpene Profile of Shiskaberry

The Shiskaberry strain is particularly potent, with strong berry terpenes dominating the spicy aroma. In terms of smell, this strain provides a very strong odor of delicious berries and a slight earthy undertone. Like many of Barney’s Farm’s exotic varieties, Shiskaberry packs some incredible aroma and flavors. Shiskaberry contains the following terpenes:

  • Linalool: a terpene found in lavender and coriander, which has demonstrated a range of anti-inflammatory, antinociceptive, anti-depressive, and neuroprotective qualities (Pereira et al., 2018).
  • Pinene: is found in many plants’ essential oils and is reported to have antibiotic resistance modulation, anticoagulant, and antimicrobial qualities (Salehi et al., 2019).
  • Beta-Caryophyllene: a terpene also found in black pepper which demonstrates anti-inflammatory qualities and contributes to a spicy flavor (Russo et al., 2011).
  • Myrcene: a pleasant-smelling monoterpene known for its analgesic, sedative, antidiabetic, antioxidant, and antibacterial qualities (Surendren et al., 2021).
  • Limonene: a lemony, citrus scent found in fruit peels. This terpene triggers serotonin release and can improve mood (Eddin et al., 2021).

What Does Shiskaberry Taste Like?

We’ve mentioned the smell, but the taste is important too. Alongside its beautiful berry scent, its spicy notes leave a delicious aftertaste with hints of grape and blueberry.
